The word Osteopathy derives from the Greek Osteon (bone) phatos (pathology), was born in the late eighteenth century through the Neuro-Surgeon Andrew Still. The medicine of the time did not explain many of the pathologies that arose at that time, such as the early death of four of their relatives due to an outbreak of meningitis. Still thought of another type of approach and began to associate many of the pathologies in the spine to the skeletal muscle system and its dysfunctions, with an integral evaluation of the patients developed manipulative techniques that allowed to relieve and eliminate the pain in the majority of their patients and later Restore their health.
